Dusk in Florence

The morning light in Florence is supposed to be fantastic, but I have to admit that I have not been waking up very early to take advantage of the photographic advantage. With very late Italian dinners, bustling nightlife, and the accumulated sleep deprivation of normal life, there are plenty of reasons to savor the opportunity to sleep a bit longer than usual. (Even though – wait for the gasp from my parents – I am very much enjoying my morning cappuccinos here.)

Happily, the evening light in Florence is also magical. Everything over the River Arno is gilded with gold and then the sky turns pink before settling into city darkness. Lovely.

The view of Ponte Vecchio as we stroll to dinner… and then back to our flat much later.
